Desktop Support Specialist

The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for installing, modifying, maintaining, monitoring and making minor repairs to end-user technology on a local area network including supporting the server infrastructure and audio-visual equipment. The information technology support specialist performs a variety of maintenance, installation and training tasks, provides technical support to end users on all company-supported applications, troubleshoots computer problems, and completes project-based work.

/ What you'll do

  • Monitor ticket queues, troubleshoot and resolve assigned hardware, software and LAN/WAN tickets
  • Fulfill Service Requests such as installing new hardware, software and equipment configuration changes
  • Perform new user technology on-boarding such as ordering and configuring laptops and integrated them into the domain
  • Administer application, mail, and file servers
  • Assist in managing Windows Server 2016, Linux Servers, configurations, security patches and applications
  • Administering virtual machines in a server environment
  • Administer internal VOIP system
  • Create Active Directory computer and user accounts
  • Provide support for VPN connectivity
  • Communicate plans, progress, and issues in a timely manner
  • Support peripheral devices including scanners and printers
  • Support mobile devices such as Android phones, iPhones, iPads, and other tablet technology
  • Support internal audio-visual equipment as needed
  • Support business continuity plans and site readiness
  • Document, track and monitor all problems and requests to ensure a timely resolution

/ Your Background

  • 2-4 years of experience providing technical support
  • Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and all levels of the customer’s organization to identify needs, evaluate solutions, identify opportunities for improvement and build positive end-user relationships
  • Ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously, and in a timely manner
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and office productivity software
  • Familiarity with WAN devices, circuits, cabling, voice communication systems and facilities management
  • Working knowledge of operating endpoint management tools
  • End-user satisfaction mindset
