Account Director

The role of an Account Director is to lead and maintain the relationship with your client(s) and guide the team members that report to you, providing overall direction and long-term growth opportunities. You will have a birds-eye, strategy-focused view on your personal accounts and will create conditions where others thrive and produce the best possible work. The Account Director will help shape and work closely with direct reports to ensure clarity on the division of responsibilities and a ‘right person, right role’ skills-based approach. They’ll be an expert in their clients’ brand and business as well as being the purveyor of success on the PACIFIC-owned portion of the clients’ marketing program(s). The Account Director must also be entrepreneurially and financially minded, recognizing opportunities for ongoing profitability and ensuring existing relationships are forecasted appropriately. The Account Director will support the Director of Client Services in representing the department in a proactive, organized manner, and will assist in team member decisions, coaching, and management.

This is a remote position for candidates located in Pacific Standard and Mountain Standard time zones within the U.S.

/ What you'll do

You will be a key member supporting PACIFIC’s approach to client management with existing high priority, heavy complexity clients, and seeking out opportunities for growth within you and your team’s accounts. As a senior team member of the Client Services team, you should also set an example for your team members in terms of strategic thinking, organization, relationship building, and financial focus. Some of your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Being the business “go-to” for enterprise-level accounts, having consistent one on ones with senior-level client stakeholders on behalf of PACIFIC
  • Developing and leading the overall strategy for the clients across a wide array of digital channels and client business units
  • Identifying cross and upsell opportunities within a client’s business, through consensus building, participation in client-side activities, and active negotiation
  • Maintaining the economic health and profitability of the client accounts and on behalf of the entire Client Services team, including approving invoices, developing budgets, and scoping documents
  • Comfortable having escalation and coaching conversations with your direct reports as well as interpersonal team management amongst other directors or departmental leads
  • Leading the internal team to ensure the day-to-day execution of client strategy and tactics
  • Assisting the Director of Client Services on departmental goals, objectives, and tasks while keeping an eye on the day-to-day workings of the active client accounts
  • Proactively anticipating client seasonality, managing client renewals, forecasting highs and lows of the client relationship based on priority meetings, business reviews, etc.
  • Directly managing 1-2 Client Service team members below you, as well as manage up to the Director of Client Services role

/ Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
  • A minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in digital account management preferably in a digital or performance marketing agency setting
  • Proven experience managing 2-5 direct reports, responsible for their personal growth, client health, and overall success
  • Comfortable with presenting and connecting to audiences with various levels of seniority and expertise
  • Proficient in building and presenting a digital strategy to senior-level client stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Exceptional communication and public, client-facing presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to manage internal cross-channel teams, their workload, and project future needs based on your knowledge of the clients
  • Adaptable personality comfortable with a fast-paced environment where priorities shift daily
  • Confident in working with highly technical search-minded programs for enterprise-level clients
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and support internal project management of potential conflicting projects with a multitude of priorities
  • Proven experience in accurately forecasting shifts in workload, with attention to detail in billable hours tracking
