PACIFIC, the Discovery Agency, accepted two awards at the San Diego PRSA’s annual Edward L. Bernays Awards ceremony. PACIFIC won a bronze award in the Blogs category for its Expedia Latin America World Cup project and a bronze award in the Webcasts category for livestreaming the Flights.com PR stunt in NYC.

“We are honored to accept public relations awards for two very different campaigns,” said Norman Brauns, founder and CEO of PACIFIC. “It speaks volumes to our approach of using innovative tactics to connect a brand’s message with their best customers.”

The Expedia Latin America World Cup project featured blogs targeted to capture Latin America’s interest in the World Cup. It incorporated custom jersey designs to represent iconic landmarks in cities in Brazil and Mexico, and a video on the top soccer cities in the world, narrated by an authentic soccer announcer.

The Flights.com Unboxing campaign targeted tech fans with the message that “buying things won’t make you happier, but traveling will.” The campaign included an unboxing parody video, microsite, and PR stunt at an Apple store in NYC on the day of the iPhone 8 release. Those who were willing to leave the line to learn more were given free vacations. The livestream of that stunt won the Bernays Award.

PACIFIC accepted its awards at the 2018 Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Awards, held on Thursday, Oct 25, 2018 at the Alexandria at Torrey Pines in San Diego. The Public Relations Society of America, San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter presented more than 75 awards to local organizations. The Bernays Awards are divided into two categories: Silver honors entire public relations campaigns, while bronze honors PR tactics.
